As an allergy sufferer my family has always had to make everything from scratch. We avoid foods that have been highly processed, contain artificial colours and flavours, have a high salt content, contain chemical preservatives, saturated fats and the big one PEANUTS.
We have our own vegie garden and a few different herb and spice trees that Mum uses in her cooking along with her amazing spice blends. I want to share these awesome spice blends and fresh leave flavours as they really are the secret ingredients to making good food cooked at home tasting great.
My Mum hates wasted food and my Dad loves seconds so all the recipes are aimed at keeping everyone happy.
All recipes work on 500g-1kg of meat, that way it's easy for everyone (even the butcher!) Meat can be substituted for vegies, so the vegetarians don't miss out either. There's always the potential for seconds OR leftovers.
Mum cooks a couple of different casseroles/slow cookers on the weekend then we have leftover night Wednesday...mmmmm love it! Casseroles really taste better after they have been left sit in the fridge for a couple of days. The BBQ Thai chicken is so quick and easy for any weeknight it's a great meal with stir fry vegies and then Mum puts it on my sangers for school the next day and Dad cuts it up to go in his salad for work.
The curry sausage mix, chicken curry mix, Balti curry, Korma, Thai BBQ, Tandoori, BBQ Tikka, Moroccan spice and Taco seasoning are all kid friendly especially if you want to introduce them to new and exciting flavours. I've been eating them since I was 8 and curry sausages are still my favourite. (Jalfrezi and Vindaloo are NOT kid friendly, don't even think about trying them-even if you are a thrill seeker-...it will prove to be a very unattractive meal time event). WARNING: Vindaloo is not suitable for children under the age of 15...it's rated M15+!
Mum has made the spice blends 100% VEGAN FRIENDLY, PRESERVATIVE FREE, NUT FREE, GLUTEN FREE, DAIRY FREE, FAT FREE and SOY FREE to try and give everyone a fair go at eating tasty and amazing healthy food. There is a heat level to suit everyone clearly marked on the packet. If you feel it is too spicy add some natural yoghurt or extra coconut milk (depending on the recipe suggestions).
